Fort AP Hill! Never forget! Army bases like this were originally named by the US Government in honor of noble locals who gave their all defending their families, homelands, and principles of the Declaration of Independence and Constitution. Before the woke Mao madness, the US Government, including former Union Veterans, Presidents, and Congress had recognized men like Robert E Lee and AP Hill as among the most honorable, best, and most combat experienced Army officers in US history. Army bases like this were forcefully renamed against the will of the people and against the wishes of the Army by "woke", cancel-culture, politically appointed bureaucrats on the destruction/renaming committee.
The narrow-minded, woke leftists ended up removing the names of those like West Point Grad AP Hill who hated slavery and never owned a slave. Then they replaced his name with an obvious DEI candidate, a non-Virginian woman who didn't even serve in the military! What message does that send? Remove the woke name and restore the honor. We'll never forget what they have done to America! RESTORE THE NAMES! -RJ

High Point, North Carolina - Confederate section of Oakwood Cemetery

BEFORE & AFTER the decorative fence was added around the Confederate Memorial in Oakwood Cemetery, High Point, North Carolina. Also notice the addition of a privacy fence in the background. BEFORE photo taken Jan 2020. AFTER photo just taken April 2025. In 1867, the remains of the 50 soldiers buried here were gathered and reinterred in a mass grave in this northeast corner of Oakwood Cemetery, which was established in 1859. This site is notable for having individual headstones with names and records for 48 of the 50 soldiers, a rarity for that era of mass burials. The names include soldiers primarily from the Carolinas and Georgia, such as Capt. B. L. Burnett (1st S.C.) and W. W. Saunders (2nd S.C.). The Confederate Memorial, erected in 1899, is an obelisk on a concrete and stone base, now painted with the Confederate battle flag.
