Leesburg, Florida, Lone Oak Cemetery, Rock fountain and pool by the UDC

This Memorial Fountain in Lone Oak Cemetery, Leesburg, Florida, is a rock fountain and pool dedicated by the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Chapter #641, on Memorial Day in 1935, with the cooperation of the cemetery trustees.
The plaque at the base of the fountain reads, "MEMORIAL FOUNTAIN DEDICATED IN HONOR THE SOLDIERS OF ALL WARS SLEEPING IN LONE OAK CEMETERY. ERECTED BY LONE OAK CEMETERY INC. AND CONFEDERATE GRAY CHAPTER NO 641 UNITED DAUGHTERS OF THE CONFEDERACY 1935."
The marker at the base of the flagpole reads, "IN MEMORY OF THE SEVENTY NINE KNOWN CIVIL WAR VETERANS BURIED IN LONE OAK - UDC CHAPTER 641 2005."
It is noted as a stop on the cemetery’s moonlight tours, which highlight notable burial sites and historical features dating back to 1867. (photos taken Aug 28, 2022, RJ)
